D Series Builds

D Series Builds
Honda's D Series is a line of single-cam engines ranging in displacement from 1.2 litres to 1.7 liters.

At King, we build street and race engines from all of the D Series variations - but for the consideration of performance in the USDM cars, we'll concentrate on the D15 and D16. Although there are several sub-categories of each, the D15 is a 1.5 liter and the D16 is a 1.6 liter. Both engines came in V-TEC and non V-TEC configurations, as well as both 12 and 16 valve versions.

A common OEM performance upgrade is the Mini Me swap. This involves putting a V-TEC head on a non-V-TEC motor. D-Series swaps are less expensive than a B or K swap and were extremely popular in the early days of Honda engine swaps.

We have extensive expertise and experience where D Series race engines are concerned. We have produced several championship-winning motors for SCCA ITA and SCCA GT-3 series, among others.

We offer three build categories, but almost all of our builds combine aspects of all three.
